Carter Creek Campground

Carter Creek is located about 30 miles from Evanston, WY on National Forest land in the Uinta Mountains at an elevation of 9500ft. Due to this high elevation, temperatures can be significantly different from temperatures at Hill AFB. They range from 60s and 70s during the day and can drop to below freezing at night, especially during September and October, and snow storms can also occur anytime during the Fall – Spring months.



Reservations can be made for anyone living less than 50 miles away from Hill AFB. For reservation information, please call Outdoor Recreation at 801.777.9666 or 801.777.3525. The camp is open Wed to Sun from July 1st to October 15th.

Carter Creek Map and Visitor Guidelines

Check‑In: 1400–2000
Check‑Out: 1200
Cabins: Inspect on arrival; report issues.
Trash: Dumpster in ATV parking lot.
Fires: Only allowed in common area fire pit.
Pets: On leash; max 2.
Fishing: License required (12+); ~3 miles away.
No Cutting: Trees/shrubs.
No Riding in Camp: ATVs, motorcycles, bikes.
Weapons: Unloaded firearms are permitted in
camp only during hunting season.
Children: Parents responsible.
Behavior: No loud or abusive language.
Violations: Removal with no refund.

Cabins, Camp Trailers, RV Pads, & Tent Sites

One Bedroom Cabin

Five (5), One-Bedroom Cabins: $95.00 per night. Equipped with a refrigerator, stove, sink with hot and cold running water, microwave, heater, dining room table with five chairs, one double bed, one single bed, and one set of bunk beds. MAXIMUM OF 5 PEOPLE PER CABIN!

Two Bedroom Cabins

One (1), Two-Bedroom Cabin: $119.00 per night. Equipped with a refrigerator, stove, sink with hot and cold running water, microwave, heater, dining room table with seven chairs, two double beds, one single bed, and one set of bunk beds. MAXIMUM OF 7 PEOPLE PER CABIN!

Large Cabin

One (1), Large Cabin (with a private bathroom): $149.00 per night. Equipped with a refrigerator, stove, sink with hot and cold running water, microwave, heater, dining room table with six chairs, shower, restroom, two double beds, and one set of bunk beds. MAXIMUM OF 6 PEOPLE PER CABIN!

27' Trailers

Three (3), 27′ Trailers: $119.00 per night. Equipped with a stove, sink, refrigerator, microwave, self-contained, and a shower. MAXIMUM OF 5 PEOPLE PER TRAILER!

RV Pads

Four (4), RV Pads: $30.00 per night. Pads that will hold up to a 30’ camper. They have water and electric hookups but NO dump station.

Tent Sites

Three (3), Tent Sites: $25.00 per night. Tent sites can hold 2 tents or 6 people at each.

ATV Rental at Carter Creek

Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Utah will require all OHV operators to complete the free Utah Off-Highway Vehicle Education Course. Operators under the age of 18 shall possess a youth OHV education certificate in order to operate an OHV on public land, road or trail. Operators 18 years of age or older may operate an OHV if they possess an approved adult OHV education certificate. The once-in-a-lifetime course is expected to take less than 30 minutes to complete.
